Fall Courses Offered at ILCC

BLS Healthcare

Provider Skills

Iowa Lakes Community College will be offering several opportunities to take the BLS Healthcare Provider skills courses.

This course is for new and renewing healthcare providers, including EMS, nursing and other healthcare fields. It is completed in three parts. For help to register, visit www.iowalakes.edu/continuing_education/emergency_services_classes/. To get started go to www.onlineaha.org. Part one must be completed before parts two and three. Part two, skills practice, and part three, skills testing, are scheduled at several locations throughout the Iowa Lakes region. Skills courses are $29 and will be held:

Emergency Medical Tech Certification

Iowa Lakes Community College will be offering an Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) Certification this fall.

EMT Certification is required before providers can further their education in advanced emergency medical services such as AEMT or Paramedic. The course is a comprehensive program of cognitive and psychomotor work, and a short clinical internship developing skills to become and entry level EMT. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to complete the National Register’s exams to become certified.

This course will be held on Monday and Thursday, Sept. 30 through Dec. 19, from 5:30-9:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County EMS Association Building – 809 Lake Street, Spirit Lake. The registration fee is $735.35.

Continuing Education for Massage Therapists

Iowa Lakes Community College will offer continuing education opportunities for licensed massage therapists this fall.

On Sunday, Oct. 6, from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Spencer campus, a course on Massage Therapy Ethics will be offered. This 6-hour class will discuss the code of ethics as it pertains to LMTs. The NCBTMB’s ethical guidelines will be outlined and participants will cover boundary setting, confidentiality and professionalism. Basic state regulations will also be covered. The registration fee is $80 and the course number is 51842.

On Saturday, Nov. 23, and Sunday, Nov. 24, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Spencer campus, a Neural Reset Therapy (N.R.T.) course will be offered. N.R.T. is a fun and easy approach to getting rid of muscular pain and tightness. This workshop will provide LMTs with leading-edge methods and will focus on the lower body. The registration fee is $395 and the course number is 51753.
