Local Girls Participate in 2013 Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Scholarship Pageant

The Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Scholarship Program will crown it’s 2013 Titleholders on Saturday, August 10, 2013 in Titonka, Iowa at the Titonka School. Admission is $5.00 at the door.

Vying for the title of Miss Kossuth-Winnebago are: Emma Sougstad, Liz Naviaux, Jordan Crosser and Stacy Phipps. Emma Sougstad is the 18 year old daughter of Steve & Patti Sougstad of Forest City. She is a graduate of Forest City High School and will a freshman at the University of Iowa this fall. Liz Naviaux is the 17 year old daughter of Dawn McCarthy and Tom Naviaux and resides in Spirit Lake. She will be a senior this fall at Spirit Lake High School. Jordan Crosser is the 18 year old daughter of Brian and Stephanie Crosser of Clear Lake. She attends Minnesota State University. Stacy Phipps is the 18 year old daughter of Gary and Paula Phipps of Eldridge. She is a Senior at St. Ambrose University.

Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Outstanding Teen Contestants are: Katherine Harrison, Amanda Myers, Savannah Rahm and Halie Hauge-Struecker. Katherine Harrison is the 16 year old daughter of Michael and Lois Harrison of Swea City. She is a Junior at North Union High School. Amanda Myers is the 16 year old daughter of John & Jessica Emswiler of Charter Oak and Ken Myers of Carrol. She is a junior at Charter Oak-Ute high school. Savannah Rahm is the 14 year old daughter of Tony and Sherry Rahm of Algona. She will be a freshman at Algona High School this fall. Halie Hauge-Strecker is the 14 year old daughter of Jim and Kathy Struecker of Burt. She will be a freshman at Algona High School this fall.

Jr. Miss Kossuth-Winnebago contestants are Riley Shryock, Olivia Kajewski, Kaylee Hansen, Gabriella Carpenter and Atleigh Cody. Riley Shryock is the 10 year old daughter of Jody and Teresa Dalen and Jason Shryock of Estherville. She is a 6th grader at Estherville Lincoln Central. Olivia Kajewski is the 11 year old daughter of Ken and Debbie Kajewski of Bancroft. She will be in the 6th grade at Seton Grade School in Algona. Kaylee Hansen is the 10 year old daughter of Curt and Julie Hansen of Spencer. She will be a 5th grader at Lincoln Elementary in Spencer. Gabriella Carpenter is the 11 year old daughter of Rick and Mel Brichta of Spencer. She will be a 6th grader at Spencer Community School. Atleigh Cody is the 9 year old daughter of Jesse and Jamie Cody of Estherville. She will be in the 4th grade at Roosevelt Middle School in Estherville.

Li’l Miss Kossuth-Winnebago contestants are Lydia Erpelding and Jenessa Ehmen. Lydia Erpelding is the 9 year old daughter of John Erpelding and Gina Borchardt both of Algona. She will be a 3rd grader at Lucia Wallace this fall. Janessa Ehmen is the 9 year old daughter of Paul and Jan Ehmen of Cylinder. She will be in the 4th grade at North Union Elementary School.

Participating in the Princess for the Day mentoring program this year are: Leah Reinhart, Shelby Potratz, Jordan Blocker, Allison Denker, Ava Burdorf and Emma Grace Kirkegaard. Leah Reinhart is the 7 year old daughter of Tom and Sarah Reinhart of Elkador. Shelby Potratz is the 7 year old daughter of Wade and Shawna Potratz of Fenton. Jordan Blocker is the 8 year old daughter of Mike and Doris Blocker of Fenton. Allison Denker is the 5 year old daughter of Adam and Colleen Denker of Fenton. Ava Burdorf is the 6 year old daughter of Molly Burdorf of Graettinger. Emma Grace Kirkegaard is the 6 year old daughter of Benjamine and Samantha Kirkegaard of Swea City.

The Miss Kossuth-Winnebago Scholarship Program is a preliminary pageant to Miss Iowa, Miss America & Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageants. The Miss America Organization is the largest provider of scholarships to young women. Contestants should live, work or attend school in Iowa and be between the ages of 6 and 24.
