Picture Palo Alto County Photo Contest At Fair

The Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District and The Palo Alto County Conservation Board are once again sponsoring a Photography contest. The contest encourages people of all ages to get out and enjoy Palo Alto County’s many unique and beautiful sites!!

The framed photographs will be displayed in the County Conservation Board booth at the fair. The public will be asked to vote for their favorite photograph, (only the title of the photograph will be displayed). The winner will be announced following the fair.

Contest Rules:

Photographs must be taken somewhere in Palo Alto County. Photographs must be 8 x 10 or 8 x 12 and framed. Frames, with or without matting, can be any size. The photo must be ready to hang, on one hook or wire. If the photo is not ready to hang, it will be ineligible. Please no words or dates on the front of the picture.

Provide the following information on the back of the framed photo:

Name – Address – Telephone Number – Picture Title – Approximate location of the photo – Age category of the photographer

There is a limit two photos per person for entry into the contest.

Any persons affiliated with the agencies sponsoring the contest may not win cash prizes, but may enter the contest.

The photo must be nature related: Iowa’s landscape, plants, and wildlife.

The photo must be taken between July 2011 through June 2012.

Cash prizes will be awarded:

1st Place $30 and 2nd Place $20

Adult (over 18) – Youth (18 and under)


Photos are due at the Palo Alto Soil & Water Conservation District office by July 16. The office is located on Highway 18 west of the Dairy Queen in Emmetsburg.
