Memorial Day Remembrances

MEMORIAL DAY -- Col. Stephen E. Osborn, G1 Joint Forces National Guard of the Iowa Army National Guard, was the featured speaker at Memorial Day services in Emmetsburg. He was joined by Father Clem Currans and Iowa Senator Jack Kibbie. Remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice were remembered and honored. Father Currans reminded people of the atrocities and urged building unity and peace. Sen. Kibbie identified the ten quality of life issues passed by the Iowa Legislature to benefit veterans, offering Thank You from a grateful nation. Col. Osborn talked about the day of remembrance and the sacrifices made by the many Iowans. Freedom is far from free. He noted that all had been touched by the ultimate sacrifice our military has given.
