Moser Announces Candidacy For County Auditor’s Office
Palo Alto County native Carmen Moser has announced her candidacy for the Palo Alto County Auditor’s position for the upcoming 2012 General election.
Carmen Moser was appointed to the position of Palo Alto County Auditor on Jan. 3, 2012, by the Palo Alto County Board of Supervisors following the retirement of Gary Leonard. Moser, who was Deputy Auditor under Leonard, has decided to run for the post of County Auditor in order to continue to serve the residents of Palo Alto County.
“I am running for the position of Palo Alto County Auditor because I enjoy working at the Courthouse and helping the people when they have questions,” Moser stated. “I have worked in the county auditor’s office for the past 19 years. My experience is a valuable tool for being the county auditor. My responsibilities have been preparing valuations, calculating tax levies, preparing township budgets and making real estate transfers. I have also served as the Drainage clerk, attending numerous drainage hearings and preparing the appropriate notices and drainage levies. And, as the Elections Deputy, I have been involved with planning and preparing for elections since beginning work in the auditor’s office in 1993. I have been certified as an Iowa State Election Administrator since 2004 and am currently re-certified through Dec. 31, 2014.”
Moser was born and raised in Palo Alto County, growing up on a farm near Rodman and graduated from West Bend High School in 1989. After graduation she attended Iowa Lakes Community College for two years and received both an Associate of Arts Degree and an Associate of Science Degree as an Administrative Assistant. While attending ILCC, Carmen worked at the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office as a part-time secretary.
After graduating from ILCC, Moser continued her education at Mankato State University where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Office Systems Management and Business Administration with Concentration in Human Resource Management.
After graduating from Mankato State on a Friday, she was immediately employed the following Monday as a Deputy Auditor, and has served the citizens of Palo Alto County for the past 19 years. In those years of service there have been many changes in the Auditor’s Office and county government as a whole. Learning ways to better serve the residents of Palo Alto County is Moser’s greatest goal as the County Auditor.
Carmen and her husband Jamie are the parents of Laura, an eighth grader, and Colten, who is in fourth grade. The Moser’s reside in Cylinder and enjoy camping.
Carmen is a member of the Palo Alto County 4-H Foundation Board and also serves on the Iowa Lakes Community College Technology Advisory Committee.
“I have the education and the experience to be a leader in county government. I will strive to provide the people with friendly, courteous and professional service through the Auditor’s Office,” Moser said. “I would greatly appreciate your support in the coming elections.”
