An old favorite event is returning to the St. Patrick’s week schedule of events as the Emmetsburg High School Vocal Music Department is bringing back the St. Patrick’s Day Student and Alumni Talent Show. The show will take place this Thursday, March 15 at 8:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium.
The St. Pat’s Talent Show features performances and acts by present and past EHS musicians. This year’s show will feature performances by both EHS Show Choirs, “High Voltage” and “Black and Gold” along with the EHS Jazz Band, and the Middle School Show Choir “Evolution”, along with some solo and ensemble talent from the area.
Any local and alumni talent that wishes to be included in the program should contact Dave Fog at the high school or at his home to schedule their act and receive any assistance in preparing their show. There is still room for talent!!
The Jazz Band, under the direction of Aaron Phillips, will begin the evening’s entertainment before the Junior Varsity Show Choir “Black and Gold” will reprised their outstanding Division II performance from state contest and their second place in their class at Vermillion SD.
The Varsity Show Choir, High Voltage, will bring their show that earned the twenty-ninth Division I rating in thirty years from the IHSMA State Show Choir Contest to the stage. High Voltage is enjoying another banner year of competition with the Class 2A championships and finals qualifications at both the Vermillion and Dallas Center Show Choir events, as well as winning Class A and placing as second runner-up this past weekend at the Sioux Falls Washington Best of Show competition. The Middle School Show Choir, Evolution, is also coming off their championship performance at the Emmetsburg “Extravaganza” Show Choir Invitational on March 3.
As an added bonus, high school Concert Choir will also perform a new arrangement of “The Wearing of the Green”, a specially commissioned arrangement written especially for the EHS Choral Department. The premiere performance of this arrangement will be Thursday evening.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend an evening of entertainment to get the St. Pats festivities rolling. A small admission will be charged as a fundraiser for the EHS Vocal Department.
