A new business, offering healthy and delicious protein smoothies, will soon open in downtown Emmetsburg. Living Proof will officially open its doors on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 913 Broadway (in the building formerly home to Look Who’s Stamping).

Katie and Vicky VanOosbree are co-owners of Living Proof.

Katie explained that she became interested in opening her own business after attending a health fair as part of her job last March.

“After the health fair, I began attending a nutrition club in Algona,” shared Katie. “My experience there inspired me to open a club here in Emmetsburg.”

According to Vicky, Living Proof is a health and wellness nutrition center, offering Herbalife supplements for every facet of life, including supplements for energy and fitness, women’s and men’s health, enhancers, immune solutions, healthy aging, protein, core nutrition, digestive health, heart health, stress, protein snacks, and kid’s health.

Also offered: healthy and tasty protein smoothies.

“Our target is weight loss management,” Vicky added. “It’s a lifestyle change, not a diet. The protein smoothies can be used as a meal replacement. The smoothies are delicious and contain 22 grams of protein and no sugar and are under 200 calories per serving.”

There is a broad spectrum of flavors, ranging from vanilla (with names like wedding cake and Papa’s rum cake) and wild berry (strawberry cheesecake) to cookies-n-cream, chocolate, and caf latte varieties.

Customers can grab a smoothie togo or can take a seat inside Living Proof to enjoy their beverage. The walls have been painted energizing colors of vibrant orange and royal blue. Perhaps, the most eye-catching feature of Living Proof is the blackboard smoothie mural on the north wall of the business.

“Doug Applegate from Ankeny painted the mural,” said Katie. “He did a really great job.”

To add an element of fun to the business, Living Proof will be offering weight loss challenges in the coming weeks. They will also provide beverage cards for patrons: buy nine smoothies and receive one free.

Living Proof will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
