The Emmetsburg High School Concert Choir has been invited to compete a second time in the KICD Holiday Idol Contest. The Concert Choir, under the direction of Dave Fog, is one of three high school choirs competing in the “Holiday Idol” competition, sponsored by the KICD Stations in Spencer.

The premise of the competition is simple the Emmetsburg Concert Choir, along with choirs from Sioux Central and Spencer, have buttons on the KICD station website: kicdam.com/ .

There are brief audio clips of each choir that may be listened to, and by clicking on the button for the respective choir, in this case, Emmetsburg, a vote is cast for the group. The contest started on Monday, Dec 28th and concludes this Thursday, Dec 1, so there is a very short time to cast your vote for the Emmetsburg Concert Choir.

Once the votes are tabulated, the winning choir will be named on Friday, Dec. 2. The prize? The winning choir will have the opportunity to perform a 15-minute concert as the opening act for Tonic Sol-Fa’s Holiday Concert at the Clay County Regional Events Center on Saturday, Dec. 10. After performing their warm-up concert, the group will be guests of KICD for the concert presented by Tonic Sol-Fa.

The Emmetsburg Concert Choir is no stranger to the competition, as two years ago, the Concert Choir received the most votes to earn the Holiday Idol Championship. With that win, the Emmetsburg group was fortunate enough to meet and then open for the Oak Ridge Boys at the Holiday Concert in the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer in 2009.

Voting is very simple, but again, the window of opportunity is very limited, from Monday, Nov. 28 through Thursday, Dec. 1. Help the Emmetsburg High School Concert Choir earn this performance opportunity by voting online at the KICD website: kicdam.com/ Follow the instructions for the Holiday Idol voting and cast your vote as many times as you can!!!
