Horizons Unlimited is starting a new program collecting textiles.

“This is a natural fit for Horizons Unlimited as we already recycle many items such as plastics, cardboard, paper, tin and glass,” said Deb Davis, Associate Director at Horizons. “Recycling textiles will expand our current recycling program which also provides job opportunities to our members and employees.”

The new program is a two-fold mission: save textiles, purses, belts and shoes from entering the landfill and share the excess with third world countries.

The collection site is open 24 hours a day, seven days week, It is located at Horizons on the south side of the building where other items are normally recycled. A drop shoot into the building is marked and available for immediate use.

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., those who donate can stop at the office and receive a charity donation receipt that can be used for tax purposes.

Horizons Unlimited of Emmetsburg is a non-profit organization. Questions can be directed to Horizons Unlimited at 712-852-2211.
