Emmetsburg High School Class of 2011 Commencement This Sunday
Fifty-five members of the Emmetsburg High School Class of 2011 will participate in commencement exercises this Sunday, May 22. The ceremony begins at 2 p.m. in the high school gymnasium. The graduates will accept their high school diplomas before a gym full of family and friends.
The classmates have chosen the class motto of “We all take different paths in life, but no matter where we go, we take a little of each other with us.” Their class colors are purple and silver, and class flower is the gerbera daisy.
Senior Class President is Chelsey Rouse, Molli Schmeling is Class Vice President, Class Secretary is Nicole Leuer, and Nicole Schany is Class Treasurer. Senior Student Council members include: Hannah Drost, Brian Hadley, Jordan Kerber, Mara Lee, and Hillary Pico.
The Emmetsburg High School Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Aaron Phillips, band director, will play a pre-commencement concert featuring “Toccata for Band” and the “Star Spangled Banner.” Phillips will then conduct the band in the traditional processional, “Pomp and Circumstance.”
Members of the Senior Class will be escorted to their seats by Jordan Bragg and Katie Kassel, Junior Class Marshals.
Jordan Kerber and Morgan Vlasman will present the Senior Class Video.
Mr. David Fog, vocal music director, will lead the Emmetsburg High School Concert Choir in their vocal selections, “Daemon Irrepit Callidus” and “Do I Make You Proud.”
Chelsey Rouse, Class President, will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. Rouse and Nicole Leuer, Class Salutatorians, and Brian Hadley, Class Valedictorian, will provide the Commencement address.
Principal Jay Jurrens will then present the Emmetsburg High School Class of 2011. Mr. Jurrens will be assisted in the awarding of diplomas by Board of Education President Karla Anderson and Board of Education members Mrs. Laure Egland and Mr. Don Hagen.
