Severe Weather Drill

By Staff | Apr 7, 2011

On Wednesday, students throughout Palo Alto County practiced what they would do in case a tornado warning was issued while they were at school. When the alarm went off at the Emmetsburg West Elementary, the boys and girls formed orderly lines and calmly walked into the boys’ and girls’ bathrooms where they knelt, covering their heads with their arms (above). As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, a statewide tornado drill was held on Wednesday throughout Iowa’s 99 counties. – Lori Hall photo
