Plans Underway For 2011 Relay For Life
Officials organizing the 2011 version of the Palo Alto County Relay For Life have set the date for the annual fundraiser, selecting Saturday, June 18 as the date. Once again, the annual effort to raise funds to fight cancer will be held in Palo Alto County Courthouse Square in Emmetsburg from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The Relay For Life Committee is being headed up by Deb Harris of Graettinger, with Joyce Zitterich of Graettinger serving as the head of the Survivor Committee. Other committee members include Kari Mueller as lead on the Entertainment committee, Jen Swift and Lindsey Jones as co-chairs of the Teams Committee and Kari Anderson and Michelle Theesfeld as co-chairs of the Sponsorship Committee. Cheryl Harris and Jane Brown are serving as co-chairs of the Publicity Committee, while Tiffany Harris is in charge of the On-Line efforts for Relay. Val Feldhacker and Suzy Koenck are the co-treasurers and Dee Schmitz is in charge of the video presentation.
Several items will be raffled off during the course of the day-long event, including the following: A bicycle donated by Hardware Hank; Quilt donated by the Sew ‘N’ Sews; A One-Year Pass to the Smith Wellness Center donated by the Wellness Center; Flat Screen T.V. donated by I-Wireless; A seven-inch Netbook Laptop Computer donated by Young’s Custom Computers & Mehan Holland & Central Finance Group. These tickets will be available from any Relay for Life team member prior to and on the day of the event.
Organizers note that it is not too late to get a team together and for those interested in doing so, they should call Jen Swift at 712-298-2354 for more information.
All former and current cancer patients, those who have lost a loved one to cancer, families, businesses, faith-based and civic organizations, and anyone wanting to make a difference in the fight against cancer are invited and encouraged to take part in this exciting team event.
We would encourage the people of Palo Alto County to organize a team so we can create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!
