Emmetsburg’s first-ever tattoo shop is open for business! Peter and Stacy Ringlaben of Emmetsburg opened Emerald Isle Tattoo on the west side of the former Emmetsburg Middle School building.

The new business is located within the former boys locker room and has evolved its Spartan look of bare cement block walls to one of fun, edgy style. The entire interior has been painted a vivid green-keeping with the Irish theme-and examples of available tattoos are displayed throughout. Separate rooms are provided for tattoo and body piercing services.

Peter Ringlaben of Emmetsburg is the featured artist with over eight years experience.

“Peter has been commended on his artistic talent,” shared his wife, Stacy, who serves as business manager. “His range of tattoos is as wide as one’s imagination. It is not only about the ink, but the entire experience.”

His artistic abilities include cover-up work, reviving old tattoos, and giving customers a custom piece of artwork.

“Tattoos aren’t a fad, they’re a part of the American fabric. They’re older than religion,” Peter noted.

While Emerald Isle’s main focus is the art of tattooing, the shop is a retail establishment, as well, featuring body jewelry, hats, stainless steel rings, one-of-a-kind necklaces, T-shirts, records, and more. Merchandise is ever-changing with new shipments arriving often.

And just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, the shop offers a large selection of St. Pat’s apparel, ranging from hats and shirts to jewelry.

Joining the Ringlabens in their new business are Mike Frederick-Fedele and Mark Frederick-Fedele.

“Mike is our ‘Piercer Extraordinaire’,” Stacy explained. “He has over six years of piercing experience. His portfolio ranges from mild to wild. Mike is meticulous, caring, and very knowledgeable on all piercings.”

Mark Frederick-Fedele lends his knowledge of sales and creativity to the enterprise.

The State of Iowa Department of Public Health Tattoo Program has sanctioned Emerald Isle Tattoo. The shop is open Tuesday through Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m.
