Ag Education Day In Emmetsburg March 10

Kossuth / Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, along with the Ag Committee and area ag-related businesses, are hosting an Ag Education Day on Thursday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wild Rose Casino in Emmetsburg. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. with speakers from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be included.

The theme for this year’s event is “Ag Education Day”. The event will feature topics agriculture and biofuels, pork export opportunities, agricultural drainage and water quality, POET Biorefining’s Project Liberty, biochar as a soil amendment, Pyrolysis, and new and emerging energy technologies. Guest speakers include Bill Northey, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture; Conley Nelson, Midwest General Manager for Murphy-Brown LLC; David Beurle, Founder and Managing Director of Innovative Leadership Australia Pty Ltd; David Laird, Professor at Iowa State University’s Agronomy Dept. and Environmental Sciences Program, Dean Lemke, Iowa Dept. of Agriculture & Land Stewardship; Dennis Banasiak, Ph.D., President, Avello Bioenergy; Jim Sturdevant, Director, POET’s Project Liberty; Mark Kingland, Co-Owner of Energy Solutions-OTB.

Brochures featuring highlights of the event are available at area cooperatives, banks, libraries, implement dealerships, city halls, and ISU Extension Offices in Algona and Emmetsburg. A registration form will be included in the brochure which can be filled out and mailed along with a check made payable to Kossuth/Palo Alto County Economic Development Corporation, 106 S.
