Bald Eagles In Palo Alto County

By Staff | Feb 24, 2011

Eagles are being sighted in numerous areas of Palo Alto County this winter. Dave Pettit of Cylinder alerted the newspaper to a pair of adult bald eagles feeding on a deer carcass in a field west of his home in Cylinder. The pair spent the morning eating the deer in relative solitude. Dave had watched the largest of the two drag the deer carcass in the field. They are such powerful birds. Eagles are wary of being photographed, however. --Jane Whitmore photo
