Kathy and Bob Roethler of Emmetsburg will celebrate while watching the Super Bowl this Sunday. They were chosen winners of the Super Sunday Party sponsored by The Reporter &?The Democrat and 25 area sponsors.

“I never win anything,” was Kathy’s original reaction when she was notified of the win.

“We weren’t going to do anything Super Bowl Sunday, but we may have to have a party now,” she said.

When asked for a prediction on the outcome of the game, Kathy said she and her husband, Bob, are on different sides.

“I’ll take the Steelers, but I really don’t care,” she said. “Bob will care and he’ll take the Packers.”

Looking at the name of the Steelers’ quarterback, the first six letters of Ben Roethlisberger’s last name are the same as the first six letters in Roethler.

“Do you think that’s an omen?” laughed Kathy.

The Roethlers have pizza, chips, crackers, salsa, soda, peanuts and M&Ms, a meat and cheese tray, plus plates, napkins and cups for their Sunday party.

Sponsors were Curt’s Shamrock, Johnson Realty, Jensvold Motor, The Corner Stone Pub, Fareway, Iowa Trust &?Savings Bank, Celtics Beverage, Northland Auto, Laurens State Bank, K. Jackson &?Co., Pizza Ranch, The Office, Mansmith Pharmacy, Food Pride, Hardware Hank, Creative Stitches, Slash?Point, Dyno’s, POET, Casey’s, Sum Hing, Hughes Pharmacy, Wells Fargo, Young’s Custom Computers and Wentzel’s True Value.
