“Small Steps” Workshop Focuses On Financial And Health Goals

By Staff | Feb 1, 2011

It is possible for everyone to set financial goals no matter how little or how much money they have. People familiar with setting health goals can also learn to set financial goals.

Even though they seem very different, staying healthy and building financial security have a great deal in common. They both require making small behavior changes that over the long term have great impact.

“Small Steps to Health and Wealth” is a three-part workshop offering ideas on how to succeed with making the changes people want to make. The workshop is another event sponsored by The Storm Committee of Emmetsburg.

Workshops will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on three Wednesdays, Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9, at the Smith Wellness Center Community Room in Emmetsburg. Free lunch will be provided.

Each session will include practical strategies and tips that can help you succeed. Twenty-five strategies that can be adopted to simultaneously improve your health and your finances will be discussed. Participants will select three or four strategies to implement as part of a personal action plan.

Workshop leaders are Nancy Clark, ISU Extension Nutrition and Health Specialist, and Jan Burk, ISU Extension Family Resource Management Specialist.

There is no cost for workshop materials and lunch, thanks to funds from the Northwest Area Foundation.

Registration deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 16. Contact Palo Alto County Extension at 712-852-2865 to register. Registration fliers are available at Palo Alto County Extension Office, 2008 11th Street, and Emmetsburg Chamber of Commerce, 1121 Broadway.
