Crafters of all kinds will want to check out the newest spot in town to gather and share their love for creating, The Craft Spot.

“The Craft Spot is a fashionable space to craft,” explained Peggy Stolley, one of The Craft Spot’s organizers. “This is a membership-based club and all crafters ages 18 and over are invited to join. The Craft Spot welcomes card makers, scrapbookers, quilters, knitters, crocheters, model makers, and other crafters.”

The crafting spot is located in the rear of K. Jackson & Co., 2117 Main St., Emmetsburg. Stolley, Michelle James, and Kathy Jackson have been working on the launch of the club for the past six months.

“The cost of membership is $10 per month, with a minimum three-month membership,” Stolley said. “Members receive access to the space seven days a week during K. Jackson & Co.’s store hours, as well as one late night per month.”

Some of those crafting hours will including themed days such as “Community Service Day,” where all members are invited to donate projects for different groups around town, and “Bring Your Kids Day,” where members are welcome to bring along their kids and work with them on projects.

“Members receive storage space to leave supplies at the club and not have to worry about the hassle of carting them back and forth from home to The Craft Spot,” noted Stolley.

The Craft Spot will also be hosting classes periodically. Members and non-members alike are invited to sign up and take the classes. February’s calendar already includes two card making classes, one scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and another planned for Thursday, Feb. 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

“We are looking for members who would want to teach any kind of crafting class,” Stolley shared. “It could be flower arranging, crocheting, sewing projects, or anything creative.”

The Craft Spot will open officially on Tuesday, Feb. 1.

To kick-off the opening, an open house is planned for Wednesday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to stop by, hear the details, make a free project, and sign up for memberships.
