The 2011 St. Patrick’s Junior Miss Pageant will be held Sunday, March 15, at the Emmetsburg High School Auditorium. The pageant will begin at 3 p.m.
Again this year, the pageant will be divided into three categories: Little Miss Shamrock (ages 5-7), Little Lassie (ages 8-11), and Irish Miss (12 16). The contest is limited to eight entries in each age group. Contestants entering the Little Miss Shamrock must be age 5 by March 13, 2011, no exceptions. One winner will be crowned in each age group.
Entry forms are available at St. Patrick’s Headquarters, downtown Emmetsburg, or download the entry form at www.emmetsburgirishgifts.com. Entries will only be accepted Jan. 24 through 1 p.m. Jan. 29. Eight contestants will be drawn from all entries submitted in each category.
Should a drawing be needed, it will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at St. Pat’s Headquarters. Entries drawn will be notified on Feb. 2. No late entries and no phone call entries will be accepted.
Contestants will be judged in the following areas: pre-pageant interview, talent, overall presentation, and appearance. Contestants that are chosen as queen will also need to be able to participate in all activities and parades during the summer and throughout the year that are prearranged by the St. Pat’s Association. Some of the parades that St. Pat’s participate in include the Orange City Tulip festival, Spencer Flagfest, Spirit Lake Mainsail, Bully Bullhead Weekend, and Graettinger Labor Day. This is a preview of the parades that the St. Pat’s Association attends. A complete list will be given to the winners. Previous Junior Pageant winners are not eligible to take part in the competition.
Stop at St. Pat’s and pick up an entry form. Hours are Monday thru Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
