Area Teams Playoff Bound

By Staff | Oct 23, 2010

The end of the regular season on the area gridirons means the second season begins next Wednesday night, October 26, for three Palo Alto County Football Teams.

In Class 1A, Emmetsburg’s E-Hawks wrapped up their District with a championship effort in a 35-17 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn on Friday. The win qualifies Emmetsburg for the playoffs with a first-round game in Emmetsburg on Oct. 26, with Ridge View (Galva-Holstein) as the opponents.

In the Eight-man ranks, even though West Bend-Mallard was defeated by Armstrong-Ringsted in a 42-8 decision on Friday, the Wolverines finished third in their district and qualify for a playoff game on Wednesday when they will travel to Newell-Fonda to take on the Mustangs.

Graettinger/Terril received a forfeit win on Friday night from Twin River Valley to claim second place in their district behind Armstrong-Ringsted, and will host a first-round playoff game on Wednesday night when they host Remsen St. Mary’s at Evergreen Park.

Kickoff time for all playoff games will be 7 p.m. Wednesday night, Oct.26.
