By Staff | Oct 7, 2010

Iowa Lakes Community College has released its 2010 fall enrollment figures and the numbers are up again. The overall number of full-time, part-time, and TRiO students comes to 4,267. That’s the highest number in college history.

The number of credit hours stand at 39,057, which is up 7.1 percent from last year at this time. The headcount of students at the five campuses and online comes to 3,483, up 5.1 percent.

“Our Arts and Science numbers are strong and our graduating seniors see us as a good place to start their college education, whether it’s for general studies or for career and technical course work,” said Julie Williams, Dean of Students.

Once again, the college has good diversity in age groups.

“Many adults are coming to Iowa Lakes for training and retraining,” said Williams. “Our adult student retention is strong and that shows they are committed to getting their education during a time when the economy is lagging.”

Iowa Lakes offers more than 100 areas of study at its five locations in Algona, Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spencer, and Spirit Lake. Students come from 34 states, eight foreign countries, one U.S. Territory, and 74 Iowa counties. The college provides training and retraining to employees of area business and industry as well as continuing education courses.
