Absentee Voter Ballots Available

Absentee ballots are now available for the upcoming special election on Sept. 14 for Iowa Lakes Community College in Palo Alto County.

According to Palo Alto County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Gary Leonard, persons who are disabled or will be absent on Election Day may request an absentee ballot be sent to them through the U.S. Mail. Requests for an absentee ballot by mail must be made by completing the “State of Iowa Official Absentee Ballot Request Form” and mailing that form to the Palo Alto County Auditor, P.O. Box 95, Emmetsburg, IA, 50536, or online on the Iowa Secretary of State at www.sos.state.ia.us.

The Palo Alto County Auditor’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Absentee voting will be available at the Auditor’s Office from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on election day, Sept. 14. The polls will be open on Tuesday, Sept. 14, from 12, noon to 8 p.m.

Voters in the Emmetsburg Community School District will vote at the Election Center in Emmetsburg. Voters living in the Graettinger/Terril Community School District will vote at the Graettinger Public Library or the Terril Memorial Building.

For voters in the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School District, ballots will be cast at the Ruthven Social Center and voters living in the West Bend-Mallard Community School District will vote at the West Bend Public Library and the Mallard Community Center.
