New Nighttime Emergency Entrance at PACHS

By Staff | Aug 17, 2010

Palo Alto County Hospital has opened a new emergency entrance for nighttime emergencies only.  From 10:00 pm to 6:00 am, patient’s who present at Palo Alto County Hospital for emergency care should use the entrance directly west of the main lobby, now designated as the new same-day surgery entrance.  (This entrance is located between the main hospital entrance and the PARC Hall entrance in front of the hospital.)

To direct patients to this door, lighted emergency signs are located at the parking lot entrance and at the door entrance.  When in the vestibule, between the two glass doors, patients are asked to pick up the red phone to request entrance into the hospital.  A nighttime receptionist is located directly inside the entrance at the new same day surgery registration desk.

“This new entrance for night time emergencies will be better for patients that come to the hospital by private vehicle”, commented JoAnn Higgins, RN, Director of Nursing.  “The entrance is closer to the nursing staff working the night shift allowing for a quicker response.  We also have a receptionist located at this entrance during those hours.”

Walk-in and private vehicle emergencies during the day from 6 am to 10 pm will still use the main hospital entrance with the canopy drive-through located next to the clinic.  Emergencies that arrive by ambulance will not change.
