Booster Club Membership Drive Is Underway

By Staff | Jul 27, 2010

With the calendar rapidly spinning down in July and August heralding the start of a new school year, the 2010-2011 high school sports seasons are approaching rapidly as well. The annual membership drive of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Booster Club is underway once again, and the organization is looking for volunteers to not only join and support the student athletes, but also to help out with their time, talent and treasures.

Members of the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Booster Club assist the athletic programs with concession stand operations, ticket takers and other capacities throughout the school year, and signups for assisting at various events is currently underway in conjunction with the annual membership drive.

Each year, the membership drive offers supporters of Emmetsburg athletic programs a chance not only to assist in the ongoing efforts of the student athletes, but also an opportunity for boosters to be recognized for their support. Through the yearly membership in the E-Hawk Booster Club, the monies raised are used to provide additional financial support to all athletic programs sponsored by the Emmetsburg Community Schools.

In the 2009-2010 school year, through the efforts of the Emmetsburg Sports Booster Club, a donation of $19,571 was made to support E-Hawk sports. Of that amount, $10,000 was given to the Emmetsburg Community Schools to be placed in the Athletics Budget, which is used directly for the needs of the district’s student athletes. The remaining $9,571 were spent to support projects include repairs to the baseball and softball diamond mounds, volleyball carts, rain/cold weather gear for boys and girls golf squads, meal money for state competition athletes, sack lunches for athletes at away events, and special t-shires for the Speed-Agility-Quickness program and a sound system for the weight room. Other monies were expended for girls and boys basketball carts, tents for boys and girls track teams, cheerleading uniforms, weight room equipment, girls golf state meet practice fees, donations to the Iowa Shrine Bowl and appreciation gifts for coaches.

There are four levels of membership in the Emmetsburg E-Hawk Athletic Booster Club; White, Black, Gold and E-Hawk Membership. A White membership is the general, basic membership in the E-Hawk Booster Club and gives the member an E-Hawk Booster window decal. At the Black membership level, one adult activity ticket is included in the membership package, which allows the member admission to all home non-tournament events, along with the E-Hawk Booster window decal.

The Gold level of membership includes two activity tickets in the membership package, along with the window decal, while the E-Hawk Membership package provides three adult activity tickets and window decal. Also, for each level of membership, the donor’s name is listed on the official Emmetsburg Athletic programs that are distributed at each home athletic event throughout the season.

Memberships in the E-Hawk Athletic Booster Club are now being accepted  and may be dropped off at the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank in Emmetsburg, or mailed to P.O. Box 459 in Emmetsburg. Memberships must be received by Aug. 20 in order to place the donor’s name in the athletic programs for the football and volleyball seasons.
