Bully Bullhead Weekend
RUTHVEN – The Lost Island-Ruthven Betterment Association has announced the route for their 2010 Bully Bullhead Weekend Tractor Ride. This year’s ride will be held on Friday, July 9, leaving from the Ruthven Community Care Center grounds at 8 a.m. Pre-registration can be done by mail, or registration will begin at 7 a.m. on Friday morning one hour prior to the event.
The fee, which includes a collector BBW Tractor Ride hat, insurance, and a morning and afternoon lunch, is $20. This year’s collector’s hat will be black with an old Case tractor on the front. Pre-registration fees may be sent to: Gilson Riecke, P.O. Box 126, Ruthven IA 51358.
This year’s route will leave the Care Center grounds and travel north through downtown Ruthven on N20, proceed around Lost Island Lake, then travel north on N18 and N14 to Terril. The morning coffee break will be held at Fairchild Welding in Terril, with coffee and rolls provided by LIRBA (Lost Island-Ruthven Betterment Association). The Terril Kiwanis will be hosting the Terril stop, and the public is encouraged to come out and greet the riders as they pass through town and stop at the welding facility at the north edge of town.
The route then continues north on N14 to A31 to Estherville. The route will then travel through Fort Defiance State Park to Woody’s Pizza where the noon lunch will be held. Lunch will be the rider’s expense. After lunch, riders will head south on N26 to Sally Nyborg’s where afternoon refreshments will be held, courtesy of Spencer Agronomy of Ruthven. The route then heads back to Ruthven for the conclusion of the scenic ride through parts of Palo Alto, Dickinson, and Emmet counties.
