Emmetsburg Catholic Booster Club Honors Alumnus Father Bob Brown
Each year, Emmetsburg Catholic School Booster Club honors an alumnus. The Honorary Alumnus for 2010 is Father Robert Patrick Brown, a 1956 graduate of Emmetsburg Catholic High School.
While at Emmetsburg Catholic High, Bob Brown played basketball and baseball. As a point guard, he led the Irish to a third place finish in Class B of the 1956 Iowa High School Basketball Tournament. He was regarded one of the top guards in the tournament that year and was named to the Class B All-Tournament Team.
Brown continued his education at St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN, earning his B.A. in Philosophy. He was part of the Seminary program and was appointed to study four years of Theology at the North American College in Rome. Father Brown was ordained Dec. 18, 1963, at the Church of Christ The King in Rome. He completed his S.T.L. in Theology and later earned a Masters Degree in Guidance from Creighton University.
Father Brown has been assigned to schools throughout the diocese and currently serves as Pastor and Administrator at St. Louis Parish in Royal.
A reception for Father Bob Brown will be Saturday, June 26, at Corrigan Hall. Mass will be held at 5 p.m. at Holy Family Parish, with the reception to follow. The third annual Irish Open is Sunday, June 27, at Five Island Golf in Emmetsburg. The four-person best shot begins at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
The Irish Open fee includes greens fees and a steak dinner. Golf cars are available at an additional cost. Non-golfers can also join the group for dinner at the Parish Center.

Father Brown will be honored at the awards and dinner.
