Meeting Set To Discuss Starting Humane Society

By Staff | Jun 2, 2010

Palo Alto County residents are invited to attend an informational meeting on the possibility of starting a Palo Alto County Humane Society. The meeting is this Thursday, June 3, at 7 p.m. at the ISU Extension office, 2008 10th Street.

Frank Zigrang, president of the Humboldt County Humane Society, will chair the meeting.

“I’ve had people from the Emmetsburg area ask for assistance to take stray cats and dogs,” said Zigrang.

A Humboldt resident, Zigrang has been president of his county’s chapter since 1996. Humboldt County takes its stray cats to the Buena Vista County Rescue League in Newell and dogs to the Fort Dodge Animal Shelter. Humboldt and Webster Counties work under a 28E agreement.

Frank Zigrang encourages all people interested in starting a Palo Alto County Humane Society to attend the June 3 meeting.
