Oh, Baby, what names our youngest residents have! As Mother’s Day approaches, consider the fascinating names that new mothers chose to name their little ones during 2009.
Between January and December of 2009, 101 infants were born in Palo Alto County. Fifty-one of those babies were little boys, while 50 were little girls. This is an overall decrease of 21 births from those recorded in 2008.
For those born in Palo Alto County last year, names ranged from the more traditional to the more creative. In what has become a trend, uncommon names and spellings were abundant, as well.
The most popular name for boys was Brayden with three boys so named. Other top names—with each name bestowed upon two boys apiece—were Clay, Gabriel, Hunter, and Trevor. Variations of Aiden and Ayden went to a baby each, as well.
Traditional and/or Bible-inspired names were on the list for 2009, too, and included: Andrew, Abner, Byron, Elias, Ethan, Ezekiel, Jacob, Marcus, Nathan, Noah, Samuel, Quentin, and Wyatt.
Other names given to little boys were: Bailey, Carson, Connor, Jackson, Jordan, Lincoln, Nolan, and Parker.
Some unique names included: Brody and Brock, Braxton and Paxton, Cayson and Kyson, Kadin and Camdon, Preston and Triston, and Trevin and Teagan.
Somewhat unusual names and/or spellings for little boys were: Amari, Augustus, Blaize, Brooks, and K.C..
For little girls, the most favored name was Addison with three babies named such. Two babies apiece were named Alana, Morgan, and Olivia. Variations of Grace and Gracie went to a baby each, as well.
More traditional names were favorites among parents, too, and included: Abbi, Adeline, Autumn, Caitlyn, Chloe, Claire, Erica, Jillian, Katherine, Kelsey, Lauren, Madilyn, Natalie, and Sabrina.
Shortened forms of more traditional names were: Emmy, Jenna, Josie, Liza, and Minna.
Some unique names included: August, Brynlee, Kartia, Kenadie, Lorelei, Montana, Peyton, Trienette, Zariah, and Zoya.
Other names given to baby girls were: Leighla and Lainey, Courtney and Caylee, Mackenzie and Madison, Myah and Macy, and Siena and Terra.
