Like The Oompa Loompa Doompadee Do!

West Bend-Mallard High School will present “Willy Wonka” on Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2. The students have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming performances. WEST BEND – Who doesn’t remember the Oompa-Loompas and their song, plus all of the eccentric characters from ”Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory?”

West Bend-Mallard High School will bring these childhood characters to life when they present “Willy Wonka” on Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2.

Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory.” This version also features songs from the classic family film “Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder, which received an Academy Award nomination in 1971 for Best Original Score.

The cast of West Bend-Mallard’s production includes: Jake Umsted as Willy Wonka, Ashton Fehr as Charlie Bucket, Ethan Fehr as Grandpa Joe, Sarah Gagen as Grandma Georgina, Heather Fehr as Grandma Josephine, Cole Douglas as Grandpa George, Dana Schmidt as Mrs. Bucket, Kurt Banwart as Mr. Bucket, Tory Schmidt as James, Kayla Banwart as Matilda, Taran Washington as Candy Man, Mr. Phil Sorensen as Phineous Trout, Felicia Stansberry as Mrs. Gloop, Kolt Goodchild as Augustus Gloop, Kara Vanderhorst as Veruca Salt, Jake Goodchild as Mr. Salt, Sara Foley as Violet Beauregarde, and Heather Fehr as Mrs. Beauregarde.

Students participating as Oompa-Loompas are: Kayla Banwart, Kurt Banwart, Cole Douglas, Sarah Gagen, Dana Schmidt, Tory Schmidt, Taran Washington, and Jacki Zaugg.

Mrs. Bonnie Powers is director of the West Bend-Mallard production.

“Willy Wonka” will be presented Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. Reserved and bleacher seating is available. The dinner theater portion of the evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with reserved seating only. Dinner theater ticket sales end Tuesday, Apr. 27.

The second and final performance of “Willy Wonka” will be held Sunday, May 2, at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.; reserved seating is available.
