By Staff | Mar 25, 2010

The reconstruction of the Kirby-Flynn bridge over the Des Moines River southeast of Emmetsburg is nearing completion. Workers from Cramer consrtuction of Des Moines worked throught the winter to rehabilitate the structure, which had been closed after being damaged by a fire several years ago. The bridge will be limited to eight tons and have a maximum height restriction of 10 feet. The bridge, which was originally built in 1893, was restored through a federal grant facilitated by Senator Ton Harin’s office. -- Dan Voigt photo
