This Is How To Move Snow

By Staff | Jan 12, 2010

After Palo Alto County and the surrounding area withstood another shot by Mother Nature last week, another five inches or so of snow needed to be moved and roadways opened once again. This time, winds made the task much more difficult as drifting created challenges for snow removal and road crews. For the Palo Alto County Secondary Road Department, when one-way plows give way to V-plows and the snow still creates problems, the big shooter is called into play. Pat Corley spent his Friday and most of the weekend in the county’s four-wheel-drive snowblower, opening up cuts in roadways across the county made by his co-workers with motor graders and plow trucks. While winter isn’t even a month old at this point, one should remember that the first day of Spring is March 20. – Dan Voigt photo
