Fund Raising Event To Benefit Iowa Honor Flight

VFW Post #2295 and Wild Rose Casino &?Resort are collaborating on a fund raising event for the Iowa Honor Flight.

A banquet will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, in the ballroom at Wild Rose Casino &?Resort in Emmetsburg. The doors open at 6 p.m. with the banquet at 7 p.m. Banquet tickets are available at the door for $15.

Silent auction, live auction and raffles are part of the evening. Items on the silent auction will be on display at 6 p.m. for bidding. The live auction will begin immediately following the banquet, with Eberle Auction Service donating their services.

Auction items are still being accepted and the list is growing. Items include: Iowa Trust &?Savings Bank has donated Silver Eagle and Golden Eagle coins, each is one troy ounce .999 fine silver and include certificates of authenticity; Classic Quilters, Emmetsburg, have donated a handmade quilt; Busy B’s Quilters, Emmetsburg, have donated a red, white and blue handmade quilt; two $100 certificates from MaxYield Cooperative; two certificates for softener salt from Ag Partners; an office chair from E-Pride;

POET Biorefinery has donated baseball caps, fleece blanket, golf towel, V-neck wind shirt, coffee thermos and gas certificates; AGP has donated coffee thermos and baseball cap; two certificates from Jensvold Motors; six bags of seed corn from Renze Seed; a gift card from Food Pride; a basket of products from A Heavenly Celebration; Hardware Hank has donated a bird feeder; a gift card from Fareway; portable basketball system from Pepsi; Pheasants Forever has donated a Gander Mountain gift card;

a five-foot lighted angel from Wentzel’s Farm &?Home; a table lamp from Petersen Furniture; Gerald Dillon has donated an electric indoor/outdoor BBQ grill; Don Wichman has donated an 18-piece BBQ tool set with carrying case; a toy 1950 Ford car from NAPA; a gift certificate to Iowa Supreme Meats from Phil and Ann Stillman; Susan Knutson has donated a collection of World War II?books; Gary and Mary Olson, Silver Lake Cafe, have donated a glider rocking horse;

Don Larson has donated a stained glass flag; Jack Kibbie and Marcie Frevert have donated Iowa and U.S. flags; Sue Walker has donated an Honor &?Remember flag; Bruce Nelson has donated an autographed photo of Dallas Clark from the Indianapolis Colts;

The Reporter &?The Democrat have donated a quarter-page ad and a foldable lawn chair; Ken Krause has donated two certificates from Ken Krause Motors; two all-day wristbands for Nickelodeon University in the Mall of America from KRAQ Radio; three hand crafted belt buckles and three hand crafted bolo ties from Robert Sackett; basket of goodies from KFMC?Radio; a digital picture frame from Galaxy Gaming; Old Log Theater ticket voucher for two from KBEW Radio; voucher for four Minnesota Renaissance tickets from Jackson County Pilot/Livewire Printing; two run of station commercials for two weeks from KILR Radio; candle from Long Creek Candle Co.; Imagine This Promotions and Aristocrat Technologies have donated numerous items. Cash donations have been received from Hughes Brennan and Wirtz, EMS, and Buddy Bartholow (Ainsworth Gaming).

Additional items should be directed to Ron Hersom or Larry Huberty in Emmetsburg, or taken to the VFW Post Home.

Wild Rose Casino &?Resort will donate half of the banquet proceeds back to the fundraiser. The Wild Rose will also make a $500 cash donation and donate auction items.
