Homecoming Next Week At Ruthven-Ayrshire
RUTHVEN – The Homecoming season is in full swing and activities are set to begin next week at the Ruthven-Ayrshire Community School District. The festivities will get underway on Monday and will conclude Friday night with the annual Homecoming Football game.
Part of the Homecoming Celebration includes the crowning of the new king and queen on Tuesday evening. The Homecoming court for this year includes King and Queen Candidates Kara Gerdeman, Jessica Larson and Chelsey Teague, along with Ryan Sikora, Logan Fischer and Zach Loring.
Junior class attendants are Taylor Thompson and Brandon Smith, while the Sophomore class attendants will be Brooke Berger and Tyler Dyer. Freshman class attendants will be Katie Grandstaff and Austin Dyler, while crown bearers will be Chloe Bakken and Tommy Geelan.
The coronation of the royalty will take place Tuesday evening in the RA gym, starting at 7 p.m. The faculty band will make an appearance at the event, along with an introduction of the Raider volleyball and Football teams and comments from the coaches. The coronation will wrap up the evening’s activities.
Part of the Homecoming spirit is the various day themes observed by students during the week. For high school students, Monday will be Superhero Day, while elementary students will observe Crazy Hat and Crazy Sock day.
Monday evening will feature volleyball action as the Raider volleyball team hosts Aurelia, starting at 5:30 in the RA gym.
Tuesday will be a chance for the high schoolers to go “Gangsta” as they observe Rap Star Day. The RA Elementary students will be tough to see, decked out in their camouflage attire. Wednesday will allow the elementary students to observe Favorite Sport Team Day, while the high schoolers will have a most interesting challenge, dressing up for “Myself in 60 years” day.
It will be Beverly Hill Billy Day on Thursday for the high school students, while elementary students will participate in Color Day. Pre-K students will weal yellow on Thursday, while Kindergartners will wear green. First graders will wear purple, Second and Third graders will wear blue, Fourth graders will also wear green and Fifth graders will deck out in red and Sixth graders can wear their choice of colors.
Thursday evening, the Raider volleyballers will play a Cornbelt Conference triangular at West Bend against North Sentral Kossuth and West Bend-Mallard, with play starting at 5 p.m. in West Bend.
Friday will be Spirit Day at Ruthven-Ayrshire. All students will wear their Raider clothing of black, grey and white to support the Raiders. The Homecoming Parade will begin at 2 p.m., heading down Gowrie Street, and will end up at the Ruthven Community Care Center, where the community Pep Rally will take place at 2:30 p.m. From 6 to 7 p.m. Friday night, the Ruthven-Ayrshire Booster Club will sponsor a Taco in a Bag supper at the football field, prior to the start of the Homecoming game.
Homecoming comes to a climax at 7 p.m. when Coach Swingen and Assistant Coach Keefer lead the Raiders into the 2009 Homecoming tilt with Twin River Valley at the football field. The Homecoming royalty will be introduced at halftime of the game, to help boost the Raiders to a victory.
