Emmetsburg Care Center Welcomes New Administrator

By Staff | Aug 6, 2009

Rick Ruehle has joined the team at Emmetsburg Care Center and Emerald Oaks Independent/Assisted Living community in Emmetsburg, owned and operated since 1995 by ABCM Corporation, Hampton, as the administrator. Ruehle comes to Emmetsburg Care Center with over 20 years experience as a licensed administrator. Effective June 1, Ruehle is responsible for the overall management and day-to-day operations of the facility.

“I certainly welcome Rick to our ABCM team,” said Dick Allbee, CEO of ABCM Corporation. “Rick is a member of the Emmetsburg community, and being the past administrator of the Lutheran home in Emmetsburg, I feel that he has shown himself to be an outstanding asset to Emmetsburg. We are excited that he chose the Emmetsburg Care Center to carry on with his profession. I feel that his choice in taking this position is a complement to our person-directed and resident-centered care philosophy. Administrator Rick Ruehle is just another example of how ABCM Corporation is committed to the seniors of Emmetsburg.”

Ruehle earned his bachelor degree in business administration from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Originally licensed in Nebraska, Ruehle was the youngest administrator in the state at that time, just three months over 21 years of age. Ruehle has an extensive background in Culture Change and Person Directed Care, experience he fully intends to put into use at Emmetsburg Care Center. Ruehle has worked in several other facilities before joining the ABCM team at Emmetsburg Care Center.

“I joined the ABCM family because I was impressed with their passion for excellence and their clear statement of commitment that ‘residents, families and employees are the most important people’,” said Ruehle. “This simple statement is in total agreement with my own personal philosophy of ‘people first.’ It is exciting to work for a company in a home where decisions are made for the right reasons. I am definitely looking forward to helping Emmetsburg Care Center on their continuing journey towards providing Person Directed Care.”

Emmetsburg Care Center takes a person-directed approach to long-term care, where residents have choices in their health care, activities and meals. In addition to a 24-hour Skilled Nursing program, Emmetsburg Care Center also provides Physical, Occupation-

al and Speech Therapy, Respite (short-term care) and Telephone Guardian Assurance. All team members receive ongoing training and education in an attempt to provide the latest health care techniques and highest quality service.

Emerald Oaks Independent/Assisted Living community, established in 2003, provides services for up to 14 tenants in a 12-unit living complex. Emerald Oaks is the only assisted living provider in Emmetsburg, and, as such, offers a much needed service to the community.

Emmetsburg Care Center welcomes visitors, and will provide professional consultation and tours upon request. They encourage community members to stop by and meet Rick Ruehle in person at the facility at 2405 21st Street.
