Celebrate Independence Day In West Bend

WEST BEND – The community of West Bend has been hard at work preparing for a spectacular Independence Day celebration that promises to be a fun-filled weekend with activities for all ages.

Friday, July 3

A tractor ride kicks off the festivities at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 3. Tractors will line up at the West Bend International. The activities continue with the West Bend Knights of Columbus BBQ from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Broadway. A pedal tractor pull begins at 6 p.m. on Broadway, and the street dance, featuring the band Kountertop, will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Saturday, July 4

Saturday’s activities, on July 4, begin with a parade at 11 a.m. The four-wheeler pull will make a return once again. Register near the Family Practice Clinic starting at 11:30 a.m. The pull will begin at 1 p.m.

At 12 noon, the food stands open, Bingo play will commence, and the Showmobile entertainment will begin.

Between 12 noon and 5 p.m., a beer garden, Baggo, Longest Drive Competition, and more will be sponsored by West Bend Golf & Country Club.

Kids can participate in carnival games, a dunk tank, and pony rides from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on the grounds of the West Bend-Mallard School. The West Bend Swimming Pool will also be open at 1 p.m. for free swimming for youth and adults alike until 5 p.m.

Liberty Games will begin at 1:30 p.m. These games involve a variety of activities for kids. Prizes will be awarded to the participants.

At 3 p.m., the cow will be placed in the Cow Pie Bingo pen.

Entertainment on the Showmobile stage will include the crowning of the Prince and Princess at 4:30 p.m. A performance by the West Bend-Mallard Pacesetters begins at 4:45 p.m.

The fundraising auction is slated to start at 5 p.m. Proceeds go to the July 4th celebration and other community projects in West Bend.

The Little League Girls’ softball team will take the field at 7:30 p.m. with the Little League Boys to follow at 8:30 p.m.

At 9 p.m., the Showmobile will feature West Bend’s own Redemption Singers. Also at 9 p.m., the West Bend Golf & Country Club will welcome Caitlin Nicol-Thomas and Jenn Bostik. Caitlin Nicol-Thomas is an original singer/songwriter/violinist who plays alternative, folksy blues. A native of Indianola, Nicol-Thomas released her debut album in 2008.

The sky will light up during the fireworks display, starting at dusk, which concludes the day’s festivities.

Sunday, July 5

Dad’s Belgian Waffles will be served on Sunday, July 5, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center.
