The Emmetsburg Catholic School Booster Club will honor District Associate Judge Don Bormann as the inaugural Honorary Alumnus recipient for 2009.

On Sunday, June 28, Judge Bormann will be recognized as such with a dinner in conjunction with ECS Auctionfest’s second annual Irish Open Golf Tournament.

Judge Bormann is a 1960 graduate of Emmetsburg Catholic High School. While at ECHS, he played football and basketball. In 1959, he quarterbacked the undefeated Irish football team of Coach Duane Calvert. Members and classmates of that 1959 team have been invited to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their legendary season.

A football commemorating the 1959 Irish season that has occupied the trophy case of Corrigan Hall will be brought out this weekend as we “shake down the thunder from the sky.” A replica Don Bormann #3 ECHS Irish football jersey has been produced and will be on sale at the dinner.

The public is cordially invited to join the Emmetsburg Catholic School Booster Club in celebrating the accomplishments of our Honorary Alumnus Don Bormann. The Irish Open Golf Tournament will begin with a 1 PM shotgun start.

We anticipate another beautiful day at the Five Island Golf Course with lots of fun included. Please join us for the dinner following the Irish Open at the Holy Family Parish Center for a ribeye dinner and a lot of “back in the day.”

Prepaid advance reservations are requested, RSVP to Jon Walker, 1806 Broadway, Emmetsburg, IA 50536 or 712-852-2361.
