Joint Criminal Investigation Leads To Drug Arrests

A joint criminal investigation between the Emmetsburg Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the execution of a search warrant in Emmetsburg early Friday, June 5. As a result of the investigation and search warrant, six individuals were arrested and taken into custody by officers of the Multi Agency Response Team (MART).

According to Emmetsburg Police Chief Eric Hanson, a joint criminal investigation between the Emmetsburg Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office was conducted on June 4.

“During the course of this investigation, information was gathered and confirmed that criminal conduct was occurring at a residence within the City of Emmetsburg,” Chief Hanson confirmed. “A search warrant was applied for and obtained pursuant to the information provided by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.”

With a search warrant granted by the Palo Alto County District Court, the warrant was executed in the early morning hours of Friday, June 5, at 3604 Fifth Street, lot three in Emmetsburg. Officers of the MART team executed the search warrant. As a result of the search warrant, six adult individuals were arrested and taken into custody by officers of the Emmetsburg Police Department.

Arrested were 28-year old Joseph Ray McKnight of Emmetsburg, who was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Also arrested was 24-year old Adam Louis Jenkinson of Emmetsburg, who was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Erick Charles Frank, 24, of Emmetsburg, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Also arrested during the search was 25-year old Nicholas James Gappa of Emmetsburg, who was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Sarah Jean Weyer, 21, of Emmetsburg, was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

Haley Nicole Pettit, 18, of Emmetsburg, was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Gathering Where Marijuana is Distributed, a Serious Misdemeanor.

All six individuals were transported to the Palo Alto County Jail following their arrests where they were booked into jail to await initial court appearances on the charges against them. All six individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The investigation into the case is continuing.
