ECS Booster Club To Honor Alumni Of The Year
“Alumni of the Year” will be honored by Emmetsburg Catholic School Booster Club at a dinner June 28.
“We will honor District Associate Judge Don Borman at our inaugural dinner,” said Booster Club member Jack Nolan. The dinner will be held in conjunction with the ECS AuctionFest second annual Irish Open Golf Tournament.
“We are accepting reservations from everyone who wants to participate in the golf outing and the dinner,” said Nolan. Reservations for both events are requested before June 21.
Judge Borman is a 1960 graduate of Emmetsburg Catholic High School. He participated in football and basketball, and in 1959 Borman was quarterback of the undefeated Irish football team of Coach Duane Calvert.
Borman graduated with a B.A. from the University of South Dakota in 1964 and from the USD?School of Law, Magna Cum Laude, in 1966. He was editor-in-chief of the South Dakota Law Review his senior year.
The Bormans returned to Emmetsburg in 1968, after Don had been appointed as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Axel J. Back, U.S. District Court, Aberdeen, SD, and worked as an attorney for Legal Aid on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.
In July, 2000, Don Borman was appointed District Associate Judge, Iowa District Court, Third Judicial District. He serves an area which includes Palo Alto, Emmet and Kossuth Counties. His judicial work primarily involves juvenile matters.
Don and his wife, Ann, have three children, four grandchildren and two step-grandsons.
Irish Golf Tourney
The second annual Irish Golf Tournament is scheduled for Sunday, June 28, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.
The four person best shot will be played at Five Island Golf course in Emmetsburg. Registration is limited to 18 teams.
