By Staff | May 7, 2009

It’s time for spring cleaning. Emmetsburg residents can participate in E-Waste and Brown Goods recycling next week.

What are Brown Goods? What is E-Waste? Basically, all types of computer and electronic equipment.

Items include a computer mouse, keyboard and hard drive; cell phone, lap top, desk top, typewriter, VCR, photocopier, circuit board, pager telephone, printer, fax machine, television, cash register, CD-Rom, speaker, external modem, monitor, server, scanner, mainframe and stereo. Kitchen items such as can openers and toasters will also be accepted.

Collection will take place Wednesday, May 13, on the north side off Highway 18 in Emmetsburg. Thursday, May 14, collection will take place on the south side of Highway 18.

Items should be placed at the curb by 7:30 a.m. each day.

Residents are reminded, if solid waste collection is the same day, Brown Goods and E-Waste items should be placed away from other garbage.

Emmetsburg residents who have questions can contact Mike Flannegan with Shamrock Recycling, Inc. at 712-426-3002.
