City Council Discusses Spring Projects
Emmetsburg City Council discussed several spring projects at their meeting Monday, April 27.
Mayor John Schad told the council that the community garden is up and running. Nearly all of the garden plots have been spoken for and planting has begun.
The mayor asked for community members to participate in an architectural continuity project. Residents interested in serving are asked to contact Mayor Schad to serve on the committee.
Community Developer Steve Heldt told the council that the paving company will soon be arriving at the industrial park to complete the road. Heldt noted that two other companies have been contacted regarding a planning process for the former country club building.
The bid was let for construction of restrooms at Brown Robbins Park. Two bids were submitted, one from Emmetsburg Lumber Company for $83,900 and the other from Frank Kliegl Construction for $51,800. The bid was awarded to Frank Kliegl Construction.
The council voted to enter into an easement agreement with Horizons Unlimited for a community entrance sign on the south edge of the community. When paperwork is complete, the city will enter into an easement with Wild Rose Casino &?Resort for an entrance sign on the east edge of Emmetsburg.
The council voted to remove the handicap parking spot in front of the building at 1202 Broadway.
Council representatives voted to change the date of the May 25 council meeting to Tuesday, May 26, due to the Memorial Day holiday.
