Emmetsburg School Board Approves Contract For School Photographer

By Staff | Mar 24, 2009

During the Emmetsburg Community Schools Board of Education meeting on Mar. 16, the board members approved a one-year contract with Lifetouch as school photographer for the 2009-2010 school year. Resignations and volunteers were also approved by the board. The meeting was held in the library at the high school/middle school.

Per the agreement, Lifetouch will provide ID cards for all students, as well as all varsity and junior varsity sports photos. In addition, all high school varsity teams will receive a 16 x 20 team photo. Each student in grades Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade receives a classroom composite photo, and digital CD’s will be provided for the creation of yearbooks. All of these provisions are included at no additional cost to the district. Six photography packages are available, ranging in price from $7 to $27 with different bonus options to choose from.

Without any discussion, the board approved the one-year contract with Lifetouch.

“Basically, Lifetouch promised no more than a five percent increase if we continue with the contract after one year, which was our concern at the last board meeting,” said Superintendent John Joynt. “Even those who don’t buy a photo package still receive a photo, which we liked.”

In other business, the board accepted the resignations of Emily Behrens from the West Elementary resource room and as Title I teacher, as well as Melanie Biddle as para-professional at West Elementary. Dean Newlon was approved as a volunteer girls’ golf coach, and Mike Lange was approved as a seventh grade boys’ track coach.
