Management Change At Horizons Unltd.

By Staff | Feb 19, 2009

The Board of Directors of Horizons Unlimited has announced that effective Feb. 16, Ed Hannagan is no longer acting as CEO at Horizons Unlimited.

In the interim, Horizons veteran management team will continue to lead the strong residential and vocational programs Horizons has offered for more than 40 years. Horizons’ management team consists of Pam Beschorner, director of finances; Marvella Wickman, office manager; Lana Williams, vocational director; and Jeff Larson, residential director. The management team has more than 26 years of combined experience with Horizons Unlimited.

The Board of Directors and staff at Horizons are proud of Horizons’ 40-year tradition in the Emmetsburg area. Vice President of Horizons Board Chris Louscher said, “Horizons is the second largest non-profit organization in Palo Alto County. In addition, we are one of the larger employers in the County. Our total expenses are more than $3 million dollars and when this figure is spent in the community, it generates approximately 2.5 times that amount or more than $7 million dollars.”

She added that Horizons is a strong non-profit organization. “We just received a three-year accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. A CARF accreditation represents the highest level of accreditation an organization like Horizons can receive.” According to CARF, a three-year accreditation means an organization has gone through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors that its programs and services are of the highest quality, and are measurable and accountable.

During the interim, Horizons will have consultant teams from several successful area programs, which are similar to Horizons, who will be working with the Board of Directors and staff during the transition.

Horizons Board of Directors is comprised of eleven individuals from the surrounding area whose main function is to oversee all of Horizons operations and to plan for the future of the organization. Horizons Board members are: President Dr. James Bird; Vice President Chris Louscher; Secretary/Treasurer Sandy Naig; Jane Banwart; Sandi Chapman; Mary Clasing, Linda Higgins; Gregory Hoyman, R.PH.; Gary Hughes; Alan Mattice and Phil Stillman.
