Homemade chocolates, caramels, fudge and more are available in various packages ready for gift giving at the Valentine’s Day Homemade Candy sale sponsored by the Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary. This annual event will be held Thursday, Feb. 12, from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (or until candy is sold) in the lobby of Palo Alto County Hospital, Emmetsburg.

“We always get so many wonderful types of candy each year,” commented Auxiliary President Ann Stillman. “And whether you want a small package of candy for a teacher or friend, or a large package for a family or a department at work, all items are gift wrapped and ready for holiday gift giving.”

Auxiliary members are asked to donate homemade candy and bring it to the Hospital Board Room Thursday morning, Feb. 12. There the candy is wrapped, weighed and priced to sell.

Proceeds from the candy sale support the hospital through the works of the Auxiliary. This fall, the Auxiliary donated $20,000 for a suction machine for surgery. They also purchased a new wheelchair for the hospital as they do each January.

“Everyone is encouraged to shop early as the second day of the sale usually sells out before 2 p.m.,” commented President Stillman. “And what a great way to support the Hospital Auxiliarly while purchasing homemade candy for some one special on Valentine’s Day.”
