Precautionary Boil Order Issued Following Break

By Staff | Dec 31, 2008

GRAETTINGER – Residents of Graettinger were advised to boil their drinking water following a break in a water main in town on Monday, Dec. 28.

According to Pam Peton, an assistant in the Graettinger City Clerk’s Office, a water main at the corner of Robins Street and Cameron Avenue broke Monday morning.

The water supply was shut down while repairs were made to the water main. The western area of Graettinger on top of the hill was affected by the break.

As a precautionary measure, city officials have recommended that residents in the affected hilltop area of the community boil their water as a precaution.

“It’s customary that when a break occurs, that a water sample is taken and sent to the lab in Storm Lake,” said Peton.

Peton estimated that the City of Graettinger would learn the results of the testing within a day or two.
