Rollover Crash Claims Life Of Emmetsburg Woman
A single vehicle rollover accident Monday afternoon claimed the life of an Emmetsburg woman. The Iowa State Patrol identified the victim as 21-year old Rachel Jackson.
According to Trooper Kevin Krull of the Iowa State Patrol’s District Six Office in Spencer, the accident occurred at 2:25 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, a quarter-mile west of 470 Avenue on 390 Street, southeast of Emmetsburg.
The investigation determined that Rachel Jackson was eastbound on 390 Street when she met another vehicle at the crest of a hill. Jackson swerved to the right side of the roadway from the middle of the road and apparently lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over several times before coming to rest on its wheels on the roadway.
During the rollovers of the vehicle, Jackson was ejected from the car and was thrown into the north ditch, landing several feet from where the car came to rest.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, along with Emmetsburg Ambulance and Emmetsburg Fire Department all responded to the scene of the accident. An investigation of the accident is continuing by authorities.
