Emmetsburg UNIFUND Drive Underway

By Staff | Oct 7, 2008

Volunteers from 17 community organizations are canvassing Emmetsburg to collect monies for UNIFUND. This is the annual fundraising campaign for each of these community groups.

There are three new community organizations on the UNIFUND campaign card this year. Boy Scout Troop #46, Girl Scouts, and Youth Soccer (NWIYSA) are participating in UNIFUND for the first time.

Also on the campaign card are: Centers Against Abuse & Sexual Assault (CAASA), Emmetsburg Little League (Boys and Girls), Emmetsburg Police Reserves, Emmetsburg Swim Team, Emmetsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Horizons Unlimited, Hospice of Palo Alto County, Palo Alto Child Care council, Palo Alto County Meals on Wheels, Palo Alto County Hospital Auxiliary, Palo Alto Genealogical Society, Palo Alto Historical Society, Palo Alto County Council on Aging and Multipurpose Center, and RSVP Volunteer Program.

“For some of these organizations, this collection of funds is their major fund drive of the year,” said UNIFUND chairman LouAnn Huberty. “We encourage Emmetsburg residents to donate through UNIFUND to help any or all of these groups.”

Volunteers will be stopping door-to-door to drop off donation cards. Contributions can be designated for specific groups, or one donation can be shared by all. Residents can give their donation to the volunteer or donations can be returned to Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities office.

“If you did not receive a donation card, or if a donation card is left at your home and no one stops to pick up your card and donation, please give us a call,” said Huberty. She can be reached at 852-2334 and UNIFUND secretary/treasurer Linda Rouse can be reached at 852-2562.

A goal of $15,000 has been set for UNIFUND 2008. Currently, $3,000 has been raised. Remember: “Sharing Is Caring.”
