“Get Silly” At WB-M Homecoming
WEST BEND – Students at West Bend-Mallard High School have a full slate of fun events planned for Homecoming Week, Oct. 6-10. The theme for the 2008 Homecoming celebration is “Get Silly.”
Monday, Oct. 6, will be “Pajama Day.” High school students will dismiss early for Homecoming activities, working on floats, skits, windows, and lockers. Students will also dismiss early on Tuesday, Oct. 7, “Bling Day,” and Wednesday, Oct. 8, “Crazy/Costume Day” to work on activities.
On Thursday, Oct. 9, everyone will celebrate “Class Color Day” with members of the Senior Class wearing black, Juniors wearing white, Sophomores wearing blue, and members of the Freshmen class wearing pink. Following lunch on Thursday, the students will participate in Class Olympics games of Powder Puff Football, Mighty Man Volleyball, Class Tug-a-War, Saltine Cracker Eat, Mt. Dew Slurp, and Vaseline Smear.
The Homecoming Parade will get underway starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, followed by the Uniform Auction, Skits, and Coronation Ceremony at 7 p.m. All events will be held in the high school gymnasium. This year’s Homecoming King candidates are Darin Banwart, Travis Goeders, Matt Ruppert, and Braden Bormann. Queen candidates include Madison Dahlhauser, McKenzie Besch, Amanda Knobloch, and Michaela Grimm. Float and class skit winners will be announced at this time, as well.
Friday, Oct. 10, will find the school district celebrating “Purple & Gold Day/Hat & Sucker Day.” The student body will gather for a pep rally at the end of the school day prior to the Homecoming football game pitting the West Bend-Mallard Wolverines against the Graettinger-Terril Knights. The game gets underway at 7 p.m. An extended half-time show will feature the marching band, members of the Homecoming court, and the class floats. The Homecoming Dance will wrap-up the week of activities for the students at West Bend-Mallard.
