Get Into The School Spirit!

EHS HOMECOMING CANDIDATES – It’s Homecoming week at Emmetsburg High School and students are gearing up towards Friday’s big Homecoming football game. However, this group of seniors will have a prior commitment on Thursday when they participate in the Coronation of Homecoming King and Queen. Don your best black and gold attire, and get ready to celebrate Homecoming 2008 with the students and staff at Emmetsburg High School! A week of school spirit-filled activities are planned throughout the school district, as well as the community.

On Monday, students kicked-off Homecoming Week with “Bling, Bling Day.” Today, Tuesday, Sept. 23, is “Animal Day.” “Homeroom Spirit Day” and the always-popular Homeroom Olympics will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

On Thursday, Sept. 25, “Formal Day” will be celebrated at EHS. During the school day, students will decorate floats for Friday’s parade.

On Thursday evening, coronation of the Homecoming Queen and King will start at 7:30 p.m. in the EHS gymnasium. Joanne Garrelts will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Queen candidates include Katie Clasing, daughter of David Clasing and Gina Krenzke; Bailee Moore, daughter of Steve and Renata Moore; Hannah Reichert, daughter of Walt and Tricia Reichert; and Mollie Smith, daughter of Mary Smith. King candidates are Seth Bird, son of Jim and Stephanie Bird; Trevor Dettmann, son of Scott and Sonya Dettmann; Tyler Kliegl, son of Robert and Rhonda Kliegl; and Bobby Mortenson, son of Robert and Sheryl Mortenson. Junior attendants are Amanda Pugh, daughter of Matt and Joann Pugh, and Langston Jones, son of Tina Oliver and Wade Jones. Sophomore attendants are Chelsey Rouse, daughter of Ron and Sue Rouse, and Bobby Gappa, son of Todd and Lisa Gappa. Freshmen attendants are Katie Kassel, daughter of David and Cindy Kassel, and Jacob Carlson, son of Mike and Tracey Carlson. Flower and crown bearers are Lindsay Carter, daughter of Joe and Lisa Carter, and Grant Kibbie, son of Scott and Kim Kibbie.

“Black and Gold Day” is Friday, Sept. 26. Students will dismiss at 2:15 p.m. so that they may attend the Homecoming Parade which starts at 2:45 p.m. beginning at Soper Park, and ending at Courthouse Square with community pep rally. This year’s parade grand marshal is Claude Thayer, school custodian and seventh grade football coach.

The Homecoming football game pitting the Emmetsburg E’Hawks against the St. Edmond’s Gaels kicks-off at 7:30 p.m. at Duane Twait Field. Following the game, the high school students will wrap-up Homecoming week with an Activities Night in the EHS Student Center.
