Paul E. Peton, Jr. 1928-2008

GRAETTINGER — Funer-al service for Paul E. Peton Jr. of Graettinger is 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 15, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger. Pastor Luther H. Thoresen will officiate.

Burial is in Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. Military rites will be conducted at the grave site by members of Nelson-Christensen Post #162 American Legion of Graettinger. The Henry-Olson Funeral Home, Graettinger, is in charge.

Mr. Peton died Friday, July 11, 2008, at Spencer Municipal Hospital in Spencer. He was 80.

Paul Ernest Peton, Jr., the son of Paul C. and Sophia (Bondhus) Peton, was born July 9, 1928, in Graettinger. He received his education in the country schools in the Graettinger area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge from military service Paul returned to the area to make his home.

On Oct. 10, 1953, Paul was united in marriage to Lavon Paulson at First Lutheran Church in Graettinger. He was employed at the Estherville Creamery from 1953 through 1956. In 1956, he began farming in the Graettinger area and continued to farm until 2006.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and was on the church council. He was also a member of the American Legion in Graettinger.

Left to cherish Paul’s memory are his wife, Lavon of Graettinger; his children, Robert Peton and his wife, Audrey of Graettinger; Gregory Peton and his wife, Kandyce of Ankeny; Paula Myhre and her husband, Ronald of Estherville; Cynthia Ahrenstorff and her special friend John Dopp of Brewster, MN; seven grandchildren: Jason Peton and his wife, Kelli; Kimberly Peton; Natasha Graham and her husband, Doug; Barry Peton; Leslie Peton; Taylor Ahrenstorff and Talia Ahrenstorff; five great-grandchildren; Dylan Peton; Zoie Graham; Lillian Peton; Makenzi Graham and Kinnick Peton.

Also surviving one brother, Richard Peton and his wife, Joyce of Estherville; one sister, Miriam Peton of Graettinger; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Paul in death were his parents; brothers, Euclair, Donald and Clifford Peton; sisters, Marilyn Peton and Elaine Dalen; sisters-in-law, Virginia Peton, Doris Peton and Beverly Peton; father-in-law, Carl Paulson, mother-in-law, Geraldine Paulson-Brown; and step-father-in-law, Paul Brown.
