City/EMU Staffs In-Service Training

By Staff | Apr 8, 2008

A joint two-day in-house training session will be held Wednesday, April 9, and Thursday, April 10, involving City of Emmetsburg and Emmetsburg Municipal Utilities staffs.

“We are holding the in-house training session to focus on utility billing and financial software applications,” said City Administrator John Bird. “Every city and EMU office staff person will be participating in the training.”

The training will be provided by the city/utility software provider, Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) of Waite Park, MN.

“Our objective is to achieve a greater degree of cross-training among our staff which will result in our ability to serve our citizens/customers more effectively and efficiently, both in the short and in the long-term,” said Bird.

The training is scheduled to take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Wednesday and Thursday.

“Although the office will remain open during the two-day training, customer service will be somewhat limited as those duties will be handled by city and utility staff whose normal duties are performed outside the confines of City Hall,” explained Bird. “The public’s patience and understanding will be appreciated.”

Breaks in the training will occur during the noon hour and at the end of each day, allowing staff to respond to matters that require timely response. Emergencies, if any, will be acted upon immediately, as always.
